Welcome back to another beauty review by MNP. This time, we’re looking into the long-time Kbeauty fave Etude House Collagen Eye Patch. I just got back from a mini-vacation, which of course means I threw all my one-time use products in my bag with the intention of using them, which of course means I didn’t use them. …Hope springs eternal.

I did try these eye patches, though! Why? Because when it comes to skincare, I’m really bad about three things: body lotion, my neck, and eye care. Eye creams can be pretty expensive after all and I have Kpop merchandise to buy, people! Alas, lately my dark circles have worsened, and I’ve been getting annoying dry patches under my eyes, so it was obvious that area needed some TLC. I was intrigued by this product because the description seemed to fit the bill and if you couldn’t tell from my previous reviews, I really like sheet masks. Win-win! Now let’s see if it did the trick…

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

The Etude House Collagen Eye Patch essence is hypoallergenic and formulated with marine collagen, green tea extract, and vitamin E, all of which can help to smooth, moisturize, and tighten skin, as well as provide possible anti-aging and/or skin-plumping benefits. Retinol (vitamin A) is known to smooth wrinkles and lighten dark spots, although there probably isn’t much in it. The product description claims it hydrates, improves elasticity, tightens, and brightens dark circles under the eyes. Chilling the patches before use will enhance de-puffing effects.

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PEG-75, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Xanthan Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Disodium EDTA, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Retinol, Polysorbate 20, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

 PRODUCT PERFORMANCE:

Inside the packet you’ll find both patches stuck together and encased in a plastic clamshell, basically swimming in the essence. This is nice because you can easily keep the package to use the leftover essence later. You take off the clear, rough film on each patch and from there you treat them like little sheet masks for your under eye area— which is exactly what they look and feel like. The scent was faint, which I don’t mind. I found them tricky to apply as they wrinkled a lot, but they stuck well once I got them in place. I sat up and walked around while using them and they didn’t budge! I left them on for approximately 30 minutes, and they had dried out somewhat by then but were still firmly adhered to my skin. The product didn’t cause any irritation.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Granted I don’t experience puffiness, but I didn’t notice any difference right after use. The good news is the following morning I noticed the area was moisturized and visibly hydrated. My dark circles were lighter and my under eye makeup looked nicer and more dewy. My skin was still soft on day three and I applied the leftover essence on day four which prolonged the results for a few more days. I couldn’t say if it keeps puffiness at bay for that long, but you could probably get away with using the patches 1-2 times a week by applying the extra essence in between. It could easily become your go-to product since it’s pretty effective under eye care— which is especially good for people like me who tend to neglect that step in their skincare routine.

You can find the patches for approximately $1-$2 USD, making it much cheaper than an eye cream if using weekly. I really liked these eye patches and will definitely consider repurchasing!
