7 Ways Red Velvet And Super Junior Prove How Close They Are

We all love entertainment companies where the artists get along really well, but we especially love companies where the artists actually feel like friends and family!

At SM Entertainment, one of the most famous companies in Korea, their artists are famous for being very close friends with each other. In fact, it’s  no surprise to see members of EXO, Super Junior, and TVXQ hanging out together in their free time. We also see people from f(x), Red Velvet, and SNSD spending time together, among other groups as well!

From the famous Kyu-Line (made up of Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, TVXQ’s Max, SHINee’s Minho, EXO’s Suho, and more) to best friends like SNSD’s Taeyeon and SHINee’s Jonghyun or close buddies EXO’s Baekhyun and Super Junior’s Heechul, the years have been filled with many great interactions with each other both on and off the stage.

One of our favorite groups to watch interact are the fun-loving members of Super Junior and the lovable, adorable girls of Red Velvet. Despite a big age gap in their careers, the senior artists SJ have always been friendly with junior artists and never held their seniority as an excuse to be aloof, making them one of the favorite senior artists at SMTOWN.

Below, you can check out seven times that Red Velvet and Super Junior proved just how close they really are!

1) Mama Heechul Loves His Red Velvet Babies!

Heechul is Red Velvet’s self-appointed mother. Back before the girls became well-known, he took them under his wing and adopted them as his own. Their friendship has lasted through the years, and we live for their hilarious interactions on variety shows like “Weekly Idol” or “Knowing Bros,” where their close relationship shines through, especially that of Yeri and Heechul.

2) Literally Everyone Loves Seulgi!

Whether it’s teasing Seulgi, tricking her into promising to come on their reality show, doing a collaboration with her (like Yesung and Seulgi’s track “Darling U”), having a dance-off with her, or otherwise just hanging out, Super Junior is especially close to Seulgi— whose easygoing, funny personality is a perfect match for SJ… even if it’s just riding in a car giggling!

3) Irene Is Really Comfortable With All The Super Junior Members!

Irene has often been noted looking rather uncomfortable around the opposite sex (one famous example being the awkward red carpet moment with BTS’s Jin and EXO’s Chanyeol), but she is often seen looking comfortable and friendly with her fellow SMTOWN artists, particularly Super Junior. Whether it’s laughing and having a good time on the set of variety shows such as “Super TV” or “Running Man,” performing with them multiple times for their “Lo Siento” choreography at various SMTOWN Live concerts, or just hanging out together, Irene shows how perfectly comfortable she is by how physically close she gets to the members, how her funny, natural personality shines through, and how much she laughs with the Super Junior guys! In fact, she often looks so cozy and comfortable with SJ that many fans have begun to ship Haerene (Donghae + Irene).

4) They REALLY Love Being Extra and Silly Together!

Super Junior and Red Velvet are both hilarious, super extra groups that love to have a good time. However, when you put them together, the fun just continues to grow even more. One of their most epic moments together was when Red Velvet was a guest on the guys’ show “Super TV.” Although many hysterical moments set viewers laughing, one of the most entertaining moments of the night was this “Laughing Ninja” game. Acting over the top and trying to make people laugh— this is totally Red Velvet and Super Junior’s style! More great moments came in the various interactions of Super Junior M’s Henry Lau and his various shows with Red Velvet members, particular the funny charades clip below!

5) Shindong is a Fan… and a Red Velvet Director and Producer!

When Shindong got out of the military, he was asked (as all soldiers are) who was the girl group who inspired him most during his time of service. It should come as no surprise that his answer was Red Velvet— in fact, he particularly admitted to being a fan of Wendy. Their fun relationship went on from there as he even produced and wrote a music video for them, showing off their silly side, as well as their acting chops, as they managed to keep a straight face throughout the entire slow-mo MV. He later showed what a fan he was when he performed the girl group’s hit song “Dumb Dumb” on national TV!

6) Wendy’s Endless Patience With Super Junior’s English!

Wendy has a lot of patience when it comes to Super Junior, especially as they (known to be somewhat challenged in the English department) love to tease her and play dumb even more, making her repeat herself endlessly and finally speak English with a Korean accent in order to be understood. Not sure what we mean? Check out one of the many examples below!

7) They Just Enjoy Spending Time Together!

Whether it’s onstage interacting with each other or visiting each other’s dressing rooms backstage, Red Velvet and Super Junior just really enjoy spending time with each other. We hope to see many more adorable interactions such as these in the future as well!

lee1086 is the director of What The Kpop and a hardcore Super Junior fan. She also loves Red Velvet and (unlike some netizens these days) lives for the hilarious interactions from these senior-junior artists, especially the ones that include Mama Heechul and his RV daughters. While not editing articles or listening to K-pop, she is also watching endless amounts of variety shows or drooling over every fan cam available of EXO’s Kai and SHINee’s Taemin. Long live her SMTOWN groups… we stan talent in this house.
