5 Idol-Actors That Are Stealing The Nation’s Heart

K-dramas and K-pop have recently been sweeping the global stage! Actors and idols alike are gaining the attention of both current fans and the average person, whether it’s through a recent drama they have watched or through a video or meme.

However, some talented actors have starred in dramas only to surprise people later on when the audience learns they are actually K-pop idols as well! As such, let’s take a look at five idol-actors that are stealing the nation’s heart.

1) D.O / Do Kyungsoo (EXO)

If people are going to talk about idol-actors, one cannot omit D.O from that list.

D.O has received a lot of interest in both his acting and singing for the past several years. He debuted in the group EXO with the position of main vocal. He has since showcased his singing ability in EXO’s discography, by releasing various solo OSTs, and in a solo track for SM STATION.

Not only is he a successful singer, he is also established as a respected, young actor. He has starred in dramas and movies, even winning the Most Popular Actor at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2019.

As an actor, he received praise for his performance in the drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love” as the student Han Kang Woo. Afterwards, D.O had his film debut in the movie “Cart” as Tae Young. He continued with more roles, such as in the movies “My Annoying Brother” and “Swing Kids.”

His last project prior to serving his mandatory military service was the hit drama “100 Days My Prince” which proved to be a great success.

2) Yook Sung Jae (BTOB)

Another idol-actor that is currently serving his mandatory military service is BTOB‘s maknae Yook Sung Jae (also written as Sungjae)!

Sungjae stole the hearts of many with his role as Gong Taek Wang in “School 2015.” Furthermore, he received great attention for his performance in the hit series “Goblin” as Yoo Deok Hwa.

His recent work is the 12-episode drama “Mystic Pop Up Bar” as one of the lead characters, the charming Han Kang Bae. With so many excellent acting jobs already added to his filmography, he has proven to audiences why he is one of the most in-demand, young actors today.

Aside from his multiple acting stints, he is also active as a soloist, as well as a singer with his group mates in BTOB! Check out one of his songs below.

3) Park Jinyoung (GOT7)

GOT7‘s lead vocalist Park Jinyoung is known for his rap and sweet, honey-like voice in the group.

Aside from this, he has also had many notable acting jobs to his name. Jinyoung first had his debut acting in season two of the hit drama “Dream High” as Jung Ui-Bong with fellow GOT7 member JB. Afterwards, he went on to have supporting roles in dramas such as “Legend of the Blue Sea” and “This Is My Love.”

He also took on the lead role in the mystery drama “He is Psychometric” as Lee An. Recently, he had also appeared in the drama “When My Love Blooms” as the young Han Jae Hyun.

Jinyoung’s great visuals and charming mannerisms make for an ideal leading man on screen, especially when mixed with his natural acting skills.

Proving the quality of his acting, he is next set to appear with respected senior actors like Park Hae Soo, Sol Kyung Gu, Song Jae Rim, Lee El, and more in the upcoming spy-thriller film “The Angel Without, The Devil Within” later this year.

4) Rowoon (SF9)

SF9‘s Rowoon recently received much praise and attention for starring as Haru in MBC’s hit webtoon “Extraordinary You.” The drama won Best Drama of the Year while Rowoon himself received Best New Actor at the 2019 MBC Drama Awards.

Prior to the leading role, he also appeared in supporting roles in various dramas such as “About Time” and “Where the Stars Land.”

Aside from his dashing image as Haru, he has also proven his singing ability through SF9’s discography and by performing the song “First Love” for the “Extraordinary You” OST.

He has also been cast for an upcoming drama which is based on the webtoon “Sunbae, Please Don’t Put On That Lipstick.” The series revolves around a noona romance, where the lead role has a push-and-pull romantic relationship with his superior.

5) Cha Eunwoo (ASTRO)

Face-genius Cha Eunwoo has been stealing our hearts with his looks and charms for quite some time now! Not only that, he also has lots of talent to share with the world as well. Apart from his various acting roles, he is also the lead vocal in ASTRO. ASTRO’s official YouTube channel shared Eunwoo’s cover of the song “Aroha,” so you can check that out below.

Eunwoo has had various acting projects, such as the dramas “Hit the Top” and “Top Management” where he had roles that were similar to his real career as an idol. He even recorded a personal OST for his character in the latter drama.

He also performed to great success with the webtoon-based drama “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty” as the male lead Do Kyung Seok. Aside from this, he recently appeared in the series “Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung,” where he was awarded the Excellent Actor award in a Wednesday and Thursday Mini-Series at the 2019 MBC Drama Awards, as well as the Best Couple award with co-star Shin Se Kyung.

Coming up next is Eunwoo’s role in another webtoon-based drama entitled “True Beauty.” He will take on the lead role, so fans are eagerly anticipating that series as well!
