5 Hidden K-pop Gems You Might Have Missed In 2018

It has been another great year for K-pop, and we are never short of amazing releases. Some tracks were overshadowed by title tracks, while some were just hidden behind the flood of releases. Nevertheless, all songs have their own charm, but here are some that are definitely good enough to be title tracks as well.

Check out the list below, then let us know your favorite song!

1) Hoonams – “All Day”

KBS’s “Idol Rebooting Project: The Unit” put the spotlight on many idols that needed the extra push. On its 11th episode, contestants were given digital singles to release with the reigning boys team 훈남쓰 (Hoonams). The team consists of U-KISS’ Jun, I.M’s Hangyul, HOTSHOT’s Go Hojung, A.C.E’s Chan, Ji Hansol and Onewe’s (formerly MAS) Dongmyeong. Four of the members of the team went on to win the competition, solidifying the impact this song has brought. “All Day” is a strong dance track featuring smooth vocals and intense rapping.

 2) iKON – “Only You”

No one can argue that iKON owned 2018 early on with their chart-topping hit “Love Scenario.” While attention is high on their title tracks, you might find their other songs just as charming and easy on the ears as well. “Only You” features a tropical vibe with lyrics light to the ears.

3) A.C.E – “5TAR”

A.C.E was originally known as the group who challenged mini shorts as part of their wardrobe for their title track. But beyond that, A.C.E is full of wonderfully talented people. Three members went on “Mix Nine” with members Kim Byeongkwan and Donghun winning a spot in the supposed debut line-up, and Wow ranking 11th. Two other members took on “The Unit” where Chan went on to debut with UNB, and Jun being ranking 21st. Truly A.C.E is a force to be reckoned with!

4) The Rose – “I Don’t Know You”

The Rose, known for its British pop signature, came out with the second EP “Dawn” and its title track “She’s in the Rain” in 2018. Among their melancholic themed songs is the gem “I Don’t Know You” that features an impressive guitar melody. You’ll also surely be captured by the distinct vocal sound of The Rose.

5) NU’EST W – “Signal”

Surely NU’EST W has found a sound that fits them very well with one hit track after another this 2018. “Signal” is the opening track to the group’s EP “Who, You” which has received official platinum certification.  This song will have you putting it on repeat for its catchy percussion and dreamy vibe.
